Booker Timothy Winn, 72, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2020 after a brief illness.
He was born in Goldsboro, NC on June 18, 1948.
He attended and graduated from Governor Morehead School in Raleigh, NC in 1968. He was a member of the wrestling team in which he received numerous trophies and had a winning record only being defeated twice. He also sang in the school choir. In his younger years, Booker was a member of the Forsyth Blind Bowler's team, Beep Ball and Bells of Joy.
He was employed at North Carolina Baptist Hospital in the early 1970's and then later at Industries for the Blind in the 1980's until the present. While employed at IFB, he played the keyboard for IFB Community Choir. Through the years he played the organ for various ministries and quartet groups including Spencer Memorial Christian Church and most recently his home church Bethabara Christian Church. Booker married Easter in 1973 and from this union they had twin daughters, Kim and April. He was later remarried to Pamela in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Mattie; siblings, Leslie, Mary, Baby Girl Winn, Henry and George; and great grandson, Noble.
He is survived by his two children, Kim and April; wife, Pamela; grandchildren, Measha', Honoree, Da'Kwon, Najaila, Brayden and Essence; two great grandchildren, Noel and Sapphire; one sister, Helen; a host of nieces and nephews; children of Pamela – Kevin, Tiffany, Sheila, and Eric; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, January 8, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.
Private funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021.
