Mr. Bobby Clark, Sr., 94, departed this earthly life on May 24, 2024.  He was born on November 17, 1929 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late Mr. & Mrs. Edgar Werts.  Bobby went on to graduate from Drayton Street High School.  He then married the love of his life, Ms. Louise Satterwhite in 1950.  A year later after moving to Winston-Salem, NC they had a son, Bobby Clark, Jr. and two years later they had a daughter, Marian Clark.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Hattie Bell Werts and Edgar Werts; three brothers, Eugene Werts, Curtis Werts, and Willie Werts; one sister, Mrs. Shirley Tharpe; and one grandson, Bobby Clark, III.

Bobby will be remembered by his son, Bobby (Alice) Clark, Jr.; daughter, Marian Braddy; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Mae Robinson and Ms. Hattie Ruth Werts; one brother, Mr. Thurmond Werts; Bobby also had one devoted granddaughter, Mashauna Black; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.

Bobby was a faithful member of Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church until his health began to decline.

Bobby retired from the Journal and Sentinel Newspaper after 29 years of service.  He also worked at the William G. White YMCA for 61 years as a masseuse part time.

Bobby loved to dance and enjoyed life.  But most of all he loved the Lord. He would always say, "I know God is with me."

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Monday, June 3, 2024 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Tuesday at the Church.  Burial will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, June 5, 2024 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
