Bobby Gray Johnson was born May 3, 1941 to the late Elizabeth Wilkes and step-father, Marshall Wilkes. He attended the public schools and graduated from Atkins High School, attended culinary school in Washington, DC, and worked for many restaurants in Winston-Salem and also worked at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. He was a member of Golder Memorial AME Zion Church where he was a member of the Usher Board and Food Service Group.

Mr. Bobby Johnson passed away at Regency Care Nursing Home on August 22, 2017 in Clemmons, NC.

Bobby is survived by his cousin, Joe Webb of the city; son, Gregory Johnson of Connecticut; daughter, Karen William of the city; a devoted cousin, Veronica Canner; aunt, Gertrude Wilkes; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30pm Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.  The family visitation will be held from 2:00pm until 2:30pm on Monday at the Chapel.
