Obituary

Blondell Chisolm Robinson, a proud veteran of the US Army, was born on July 25, 1955 to Henry and Eartha Lee Chisolm in Charleston, SC. She embarked on her final journey to be with the Lord on March 15, 2024.

Blondell graduated from CA Brown High School. Her love of reading and language led her to obtain a BA in English from Winston-Salem State University. She later went on to earn two master's degrees from Webster University: Human Resource Management and Human Resource Development.

She married the love of her life Ron Robinson on April 11, 1979. They lived in various states and countries and travelled the globe together while raising their three children.

Blondell was a trailblazer; she was one of the few women who served in the US Army in Field Artillery, and honorably discharged and retired as a Major. After her military service, her passion for veterans led her to become a Program Analyst for the Department of Veteran's Affairs, where she would help countless veterans whether in her office or around her kitchen table. Throughout her illustrious career, she received multiple awards and accolades. She was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Blacks in Government, Blind Veterans Association, Toastmasters International, and Winston-Salem State University Alumni Association.

She was a woman of truth and candor, never shying away from telling it like it is (Proverbs 14:25) and had a unique ability to make people feel comfortable and was a confidant to so many. She always wanted the best for her loved ones and was their biggest champion. Her generosity knew no bounds and she cherished time spent with her dearest friends and family.

Throughout her life she was known as a woman of style; in fact, she was a model before she began her military career. She had a flare and exuberance for life. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and performing poetry. All of which she did while being active in ministry.

Upon moving to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for her retirement from the Department of Veteran's Affairs, she became a member of St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she was President of senior ministry, as an usher and was a member of Women's Missionary.

Blondell was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Chisolm, Sr. and Eartha Lee Boston Chisolm; two brothers, Lloyd Chisolm and Adbur Rahman Farrakhan; two sisters, Joan Chisolm and Gwendolyn Bienvenu; two brothers-in-law, Richard Neal and James Robinson; two sisters-in-law, Alma Jean Robinson and Velma Robinson; and her nephew who she raised as her son and deeply loved, James Anderson Robinson.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband, Ron Robinson; her two children, Re'Zon "Ronnie" Robinson and Shirkerah "Kerah" Robinson; her mother-in-law, Evangelist Velma Hinton; three grandchildren, Chiyanna Williams, Ja'Deon Robinson, and Israel Robinson; she also leaves behind three siblings, Mary Simmons, Celestine Herbert (Jay), and Lawrence Chisolm; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Pelzer; special cousin, Janice McGee; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, countless cousins, dear friends, and church family.
