Obituary

Mr. Blain Aiken, Jr., also known as "JUNE" by those who loved him, was born to the union of the late Mr. Blain Aiken, Sr. and Mrs. Julia Perry Aiken on January 11, 1927 in Cherryville, NC. He passed away December 30, 2012.

He attended the Lincoln County Public Schools. The family relocated to Salisbury, NC in the early 40's and "June" enlisted in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged in 1946. Returning to Salisbury after his military service was complete; he was employed by Southern Railroad for several years. He relocated to Queens, NY, where he met the love of his life, Felicia Jones Blain and was employed at the New York Transit Authority for 24 years and the New York Postal Service for several years before retiring in 1985.

It was 1993 when Blain and Felicia relocated to W-S, NC. It was at this time they united with the Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church. "June" served as the assistant chairperson of the Trustee Ministry and the Male Chorus until his health began to fail. He also was a faithful member of the Senior Choir, Sunday school, and the all-around handyman until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife, Felicia; his son, Blain Aiken, III; four brothers; and five sisters.

He leaves not to mourn but to cherish all of the memories, his loving and devoted daughter, Ms. Carrie Regina Aiken of the home; four grandsons, Terrence C. Aiken of Badin, NC, Donnell J. Aiken of the city, Jahmal A. and Jahmel A. Aiken of the home; a devoted niece and nephew, Mrs. Julia (Anderson) Rush of the city; numerous devoted nieces and nephews; a loving devoted sister-in-Christ, Mrs. Peggy B. Johnson of the city; The Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church Family; and a host of other friends and admirers.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Blain Aiken will be held at 12noon Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Charles Leak officiating and Pastor Waymon Monroe eulogist. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
