Ms. Birdie Lee Campbell, 94, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home of Winston-Salem, NC. She was born September 6, 1920.
Mrs. Campbell was the mother of Exodus United Baptist Church and also a former member of First Waughtown Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the nurse's board as president. She was employed by Lohman-Grimes and Unique Furniture Companies. In addition she was employed by Dr. William Folds, MD and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Eula Swygert; three children, Wyvonnie Campbell, Clinton Campbell, and Donald Campbell; one sister, Mae Rose Corley; and one brother, Jesse William Swygert.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Dorothy Lee Graham; two sons, Broadus Campbell and Leon Campbell all of the city; eleven grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Exodus United Baptist Church with Pastor Alvin Carlyle officiating and Bishop Johnny Ray Stowe eulogist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Wednesday at the Church.
