Ms. Beverly Dean Saunders, affectionately known as " Aunt Dean", 72, gained her wings on October 26, 2021 after a brief illness.  She was born in Winston-Salem, NC on June 21, 1949 to Sammie and Margaret Saunders.  She was a graduate of Atkins High School in Winston-Salem.  She was a college graduate of Strayer University, in Washington, DC.  She retired from Temporary Resources as an Office Assistant after several years. She loved GOD and her Family.  She left a lasting impression on everyone she met.  Ms. Saunders was preceded in death by her husband, James Surratt; her parents; one brother, Carlos "Butch" Saunders; a nephew, Larry Saunders; and two nieces, Avis Ellis and Elaine Saunders.

She leaves to cherish memories of her a devoted daughter, ShaVonda Surratt of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers, Bishop S.E. (Connie) of Dudley, NC, and Emanuel Mickens of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, Rita "Elaine" Hogue of Winston-Salem, NC; two devoted nieces, Alina Hogue and Tina Gladden of Winston-Salem, NC that fought the good fight along side Aunt Dean;  special thanks to cousin Sylvia Berry, who as she put it was "Beverly's ride or die";  and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, November 5, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Praise Assembly Church Ministries with Dr. Johnny York officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Saturday at the Church.
