Mrs. Betty Atwater Mack, 71, of 2634 Reynolds Park Road departed this life on June 28, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Mrs. Mack was born on August 6, 1936 in Graham NC to the Joe Lewis Atwater and Lucille Miles Atwater.
She graduated from the Winston-Salem Teacher's College and was a teacher for 36 years in Mocksville, NC and Thomasville, NC. She was a devout and faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for 61 years in which she served in many capacities including; secretary, bereavement committee, and hospitality committee.
Mrs. Mack was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Roman O'Neal; one sister, Dorothy Mae Atwater; and one brother, Morris Guy.
Left to cherish her loving memory are her loving husband of 47 years Clinton H. Mack Sr.; her loving and devoted daughters, Valencia O'Neal and Carmen Worrels both of Florida; her dedicated son, Clinton H. Mack Jr. of Durham, NC; one very devoted niece who cared for her with unyielding dedication, LaMeta Atwater; two sons-in-law, Robert O'Neal and Derrick Worrels; one daughter-in-law, Rita Mack; her grandchildren which she doted on include: Aurrah, Jerica, Nikia, and Tohvia O'Neal, Sakari, Derrick, Davien, and Dean Worrels, Vonzell Cuthbertson, and Scott Mason; one great-grandson, Matthew L. Williams Jr.; six sisters, LouEva Gwyn, Bernice Atwater, Thelma Harris (Anthony M.) all of Winston-Salem, NC, Mary Mernell Ray of Fayetteville, NC, Carolyn Harris (Ray) of Pikesville, MD, and Geraldine Buford (Arthur) of Raleigh, NC, one brother, Joe Lewis (Ann) Atwater, Jr. of Winston-Salem, NC; a sister-in-law, Beatrice Hifley; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who all loved her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, July 3, 2008 from the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1075 Shalimar Drive, Winston-Salem, NC with Reverend Dr. John Mendez officiating and Reverend Dr. Sir Walter Mack, Jr. eulogist. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 9:30am until 10:30am on Thursday at the Church
