Ms. Betty Lee Gentry, affectionately known to her family as "Pooka," peacefully departed this life on Thursday, December 3, 2009.
She was a native of Winston-Salem, born November 19, 1952 to Hattie Rush and the late Harry Lee Gentry.
Ms. Gentry was a graduate of Parkland High School and completed professional training in phlebotomy.
She worked with children for many years at Bethlehem Community Center and as a phlebotomist with Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her father; her brother, Harry Lee Gentry, Jr.; and a very special nephew, Jamarl Malik Gentry.
Ms. Gentry is survived by her mother, Hattie R. Spillman; four sisters, Victoria G. Slade, Harriet G. Stowe, Kathy G. (Hodges) Pone, and Phyllis G. (Edward) Horsey; a brother, Michael (Mary) Gentry; eight nieces; four nephews; eleven great nieces and nephews; a special god child, Jon C. Slade and his parents; and many special cousins, relatives and friends.
A service of memory will be held at 3:00PM Tuesday, December 8, 2009 from Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:30PM until 3:00PM on Tuesday at the chapel.
