Obituary
Mrs. Bessie Bigelow Henderson peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, May 13, 2009.
She was born on September 27, 1928 in Caswell County to Maude Eva Bigelow.
Bessie attended the local school system and graduated from Caswell County High School. Bessie also attended Winston-Salem Teacher's College, Forsyth Technical Community College, and LaMae Beauty College.
Bessie was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 50 years. There she worked with a variety of clubs and functions.
Bessie was also a member of Meridian Chapter # 308 Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a Worthy Matron from 1994-1996.
She was preceded in death by her mother and her husband, George Henderson.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two aunts; one uncle; a devoted sister, Shirley P. Cheeks; a goddaughter, Selina Jones, and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, May 18, 2009 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Serenus T. Churn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12 Noon until 1:00 PM Monday at the church.
Final rites will be performed by Meridian Chapter # 308 Order of the Eastern Star at 7:00 PM Sunday May 17, 2009 at the Russell Funeral Home.
