On Friday, August 10, 2007 at 12:00 noon, an angel was dispatched to Springwood Care Center of Forsyth in Winston-Salem, NC to transport Mrs. Bertha Brown Baker to her heavenly home. Born on April 29, 1915 in Wake County, NC to Neal Andrew and Sally McKinnie Brown, Mrs. Baker enjoyed a love filled, productive and divinely favored life, which spanned more than ninety-two years.
Mrs. Baker was graduated from the Berry O'Kelly Training School in Raleigh, NC. In addition to her major role as that of a homemaker, her employment experience centered on positions in the dry cleaning industry.
At the Douglas Chapel AME Zion Church of Holly Springs, NC, Mrs. Baker held the distinction,
Mother of the Church!
During the course of her tenure, she served in numerous capacities; noteworthy among them was the service she rendered as a Missionary.
Mrs. Baker was an especially loving and thoughtful mother, sister, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Caesar Baker and three brothers.
She leaves to cherish fond memories a particularly devoted and loving daughter, Mrs. Vivienne Brown Conley of Winston-Salem, NC; a brother, Mr. Neal Edward Brown of Raleigh, NC; a sister-in-law, Ms. Annie L. Brown of Fuquay-Varina, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Memorial services will be held at noon Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Douglas Chapel AME Zion Church in Holly Springs, NC. Trice Funeral Home, 127 North West Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC are in charge of services and arrangements.
