Bernice White, of 1324 Belleauwood Street, Winston-Salem, NC, was born May 11, 1936 in Sumter, SC. She was the daughter of Daniel and Mamie Washington White. On Wednesday, March 12, 2008, God called His angel Bernice to spend eternity with Him.
Mrs. White attended public schools in Sumter, SC and was a graduate of Eastern High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Saint Matthews Baptist Church in Sumter, SC. She served as an Usher and was also a member of the choir while attending Saint Matthews.
Bernice moved to Winston-Salem, NC in her early 30's. She was employed at Forsyth Medical Center and worked there for approximately 35 years retiring in 2004. Shortly after her arrival in Winston-Salem she became a member of Spencer Memorial Christian Church where she remained a very dedicated and faithful member.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a sister.
Bernice leaves to cherish her very fond memories four sisters, Thelma White, Magdalene Barber, and Lillie Mae White all of Sumter, SC; a very devoted sister and caregiver, Frances (Gerald) Mobley of Winston-Salem, NC; a brother, Charles (Felecia) White of Sumter, SC; two aunts, Mary Robinson and Lucille Washington both of Sumter, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and her Spencer Memorial Christian Church Family.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm, Monday, March 17, 2008 at Spencer Memorial Christian Church with Apostle Garland A. Wallace, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. Family visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until 1 pm on Monday at the church.
The procession will assemble and leave from the home of a sister, Frances (Gerald) Mobley, 1421 Argonne Blvd.
