Obituary

"…for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8)"

And so it is with Bernice T. Robinson who departed this life on October 25, 2013.
Bernice T. Robinson was born April 4, 1918, in Williams County, South Carolina. She was one of six children born to the late William and Hattie Lewis Thomas. At a young age Bernice moved to Forsyth County with her family and was educated in the Forsyth County public schools.

Bernice married the late Willie F. Robinson on December 23, 1973. Willie was affectionately her prince and she was his princess.
Her employment was in healthcare at Kate B. Reynolds, Forsyth Memorial, and NC Baptist Hospitals. However, her true joy and delight was found in working as a teacher's assistant in children's daycare.

Mrs. Robinson was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church where she joined the Presbyterian Women. Always one to be busy she donated cards and stamps so that church bulletins could be mailed to sick and home-bound church members. She further lobbied for the church to switch from glass to plastic communion cups. Leading by example, she was the first to donate the needed plastic cups. A lady favored by the Lord's grace and mercy, she paid it forward with donations of food and money for the hungry and less fortunate. She recently became a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

She loved her hobbies of cooking and sewing. Psalms 23, 27 and 37 truly blessed her spirit. Songs that brought joy and stirred her heart were "How Great Thou Art", "Precious Lord", and "I Won't Complain." These songs were the epitome of her personality particularly in her later years as her health began to decline.
Bernice T. Robinson, truly a phenomenal woman, had an amazing life. It was one that was well lived and full of love.

In addition to her husband she was also predeceased by an infant daughter, her parents, and siblings.

She leaves to cherish precious and fond memories her niece, Corrine Rice (Syracuse, NY); step-daughter, Alma Robinson Moses (Toye) of San Fransisco, CA and their children Isabelle (Washington, DC) , Akintoye (NY, NY), Olutoyin (Los Angeles, CA), and Willieford Moses (San Francisco, CA); god-children Elizabeth Newton, Jacqueline Phinx, Christine Smith, Myrna Williams, Georgette and Gyovanni Boston (all of Winston-Salem); Arthur Phinx Jr. (Grayson, GA); Brendan Thompson (Boston, MA) and Tracy McLean (Greenville, NC); her caregivers; Endreana Stephens, Kelly Davis, Tracy Forest, Equilla Allen, April Simpson, Estella Brown, Nicole Jackson and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Noon at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. John Mendez officiating. Family visitation is 11:00 am – 12 noon.

Special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Betsy English and her staff at Novant Health Care.

Family will greet friends and visitors at the home of her god-daughter Elizabeth Newton, 3164 Hickory Ridge Drive.
