Mrs. Bernice Moore Parker was born May 27, 1920 in Reidsville, NC. She departed this life Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. Mrs. Parker relocated to Winston-Salem at an early age with her parents, Deacon Lester W. Moore and Birdie Epperson Moore.
Mrs. Parker graduated from Atkins High School and Winston-Salem Teachers College (WSSU). She retired as a second grade elementary school teacher at the Yellow Branch Elementary School in Lynchburg, VA in June 1987.
Her religious involvements were served through the ministries of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Deaconess Board and Senior Missionary Circle.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is lovingly survived by two sons, Mr. Reginald C. Parker of Winston-Salem, NC and Dr. Howard W. Parker, Jr. (LaVerna) of Greenville, NC; three grandchildren, Ashley Shaunte Crawford and Andrea Rochelle Parker both of Winston-Salem, NC, and Kelly Madison Parker of Greenville, NC; and a host of cousins and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, April 8, 2009 from the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Serenus T. Churn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Wednesday at the Church.
