Obituary
God saw fit to pluck another one of his beautiful flowers; Mrs. Bernice Smith Johnson went home to glory on June 30, 2013. Bernice was born November 3, 1936 in Orangeburg, SC to George G. Smith, Sr. and Rebecca Davis Smith.
She was a faithful member of Diggs Memorial United Holy Church and retired from Hanes Dye and Finishing Co. after 27 years of service.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, George Smith, Jr.
She leaves to cherish one loving and devoted daughter, Shelia Smith McCombs; one loving son, Scottie Johnson; four sisters, Jessie Smith Mason, Rudine Smith (Billy) Mercer, Rebecca Smith, and Verneil Gadson; one brother, Benjamin (Gracie) Smith; her beloved grandchildren, Kimberly Smith and Reginald McCombs, Jr. along with 7 other grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one very special cousin, Rosa Hines; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Diggs Memorial United Holy Church, 125 N. Graham Ave. W-S, NC 27101. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Saturday at the Church.
The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care.
