Mrs. Bernice Boston Chisholm was born March 28, 1925 in Winston-Salem, NC to Nathaniel "Bud" Boston and Leeanna Sherald Boston. Formerly of 2912 Borg Road, W-S, NC, Mrs. Chisholm resided for the past five years at Liberty Commons of The Oaks Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, until her unexpected death. Mrs. Chisholm passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Novant Medical Center with her family at her side.

Mrs. Chisholm was raised and attended local public schools in the city. She also received her spiritual upbringing at Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age. She spent the majority of her life as a devoted wife and mother, raising her six children, when she wasn't working as a seasonal employee at Winston Leaf Tobacco Company.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Thomas Boston Chisholm; one grandson, Derek T. Chisholm; one sister, Louise B. Mack; and brothers, Thomas Boston, Ollie Boston, and Samuel L. Boston.

She leaves to cherish many loving memories her devoted husband of sixty-four years, Mr. James B. Chisholm, Sr.; two daughters, Bernice C. Jackson and Priscilla C. Perkins (James) of W-S, NC; three sons, James B. Chisholm, Jr. (Julia), Tony L. Chisholm, and Dennis Chisholm, Sr. (Pamela) of W-S, NC: one sister, Catherine B. Murphy of W-S, NC; daughter-in-law, Mary Chisholm; two sisters-in-law, Annie Lee Chisholm of W-S, NC and Geraldine Boston of Brooklyn, NY; one brother-in-law, William Chisholm of Inkster, MI; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gwathney Leak officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
