Obituary
Bernard Porter was born in Forsyth County on April 3, 1940. He departed his life November 22, 2009.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Porter; his mother, Ruth Porter; stepmother, Fannie Porter; brother, Emannuel "Walt"; sisters, Jacqueline and Dorothy; and his daughters, Cheryl and Angela.
Surviving are his children, James, Patrice, Bernadine, Cynthia, Tangie, Sheree, Johny, and Kia Bowman; brothers, James Durant, Theodore, Timothy Porter, Alfonzo Thompson, Felton Lockhart; sisters, Iris Barr, Lois Wilkins, Betty (Rubin) Hash, Arnetha (James) Streater, Gloria Porter; and a host of beloved grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1pm Friday, November 27, 2009 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until1pm on Friday at the funeral home.
The Porter Family wishes to thank everyone who cared for Bernard including several people at the nursing home that treated him well. He fought a long battle with MS.
