Obituary

Mr. Bernard Lee Penn, Jr., "Reco", 58, passed away February 24, 2019 in Winston-Salem, NC.  Reco was born on January 18, 1961 in Forsyth County, NC. He attended Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School as a child and the WS/FCS System.  He loved to race on the drag strip, muscle cars, and going fishing!

Reco was an awesome landscaper and owned Penn's Landscaping.  He was a loving husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, uncle, and great-grandfather.  Our daddy was a great friend to have and a great man to know!  He was a great provider to his wife and children.  He was an awesome father!

Reco was preceded in death by his parents, Marcella M. Penn and Bernard Lee Penn, Sr.; his nephews, Kent Emmanuel "Eman" Hardee and Joshua "Josh" Penn; grandmothers, Hazel Penn Paysoir and Juanita Brown; grandfather, Hosea McDonald; his aunt, Willie Mae Latten; and his sister-in-law, Loretta "Henny" Pope.

Bernard "Reco" leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Priscilla Penn; his children, Shanta Stevenson (David Stevenson), Pamela Taylor (Brandon Taylor), Chevone Lindsay (Shawn Stephens), Qumillar Lindsay "Mousey" Hickman (Charles), Fatima-Zarah Lashaunda Penn Adam (Abdel Bagi Adam), and Nikki Penn (Shawn); grandchildren, Teshiyah Lindsay (Bree), Kiana Lindsay, Anthony Rumph, Jr., Antenia Rumph, Marco Termayne Owens, Jr., Kymani Kalor Kai'Ria Lindsay, King Khallid Sokhan Hickman, Zainaba Abdel Baqui Adam, Queen Khadijah Hickman, Shawn Jr. "Crybaby", Anauri Neveah, Aniyah Lee, and Laniyah Ann; great-granddaughter, Princess Kamaya all of Winston-Salem, NC; sister, Kimberly Penn of Winston-Salem, NC; brothers, Derwin "Nudie" Penn of Jacksonville, FL; his baby brother, Ramus Penn of Winston-Salem, NC; his favorite aunt, Angie Webb (Tony) of Charlotte, NC; nieces and nephew, Patryce Penn, Kimberly, Rozie, and Kris; three amazing people who he loved as family, Mont & Bam of Midway, NC and Antwon Joyner "Slugz"- his son he never birthed of Charleston, SC; and a host of other relative and friends.

Reco had a very ambitious vocabulary LOL!  Daddy you are loved and missed dearly!

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with William Hickman officiating.  Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.  The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Wednesday at the Chapel.
