Mr. Bernard Edward Byrd was born on November 4, 1942, and departed his earthly life on Friday October 12, 2018. He gained his heavenly wings, and was reunited with his loved ones who have gone on before: his wife, Brenda J. Byrd; mother, Ruby E. Byrd; father, Ephraim C. Byrd; and sister, Dianne Byrd Ross.
At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at First Calvary Baptist Church, Winston Salem NC where he served faithfully.

Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, and returning to Winston Salem, he entered Winston Salem State University majoring in history. Next to his love of God, and his daughters was Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
