Obituary

Mrs. Berdie Lee Penn Felder, transitioned from this earthly life to life eternal during the evening hours of Thursday, July 30, 2015. She was born December 4, 1927 in W-S, NC. This beloved lady was the first child born to Mr. Willie Penn Sr. and Mrs. Minnie Thompson Penn. She married her high school sweetheart, Mr. Robert Lee Felder, Sr. with whom she was wedded for fifty-five years.

Her first and primary joy was wife to her husband and homemaker to her family. She was a licensed cosmetologist by profession and was partner in Katie's Beauty Shop. She earlier worked in culinary services at Anderson Sr. High School and Forsyth Technical Community College. She worked for North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company for a brief period. She was a lifetime member of Hanes Memorial C.M.E. Church. She served at Hanes on the Usher Board, Women's Missionary Club, and Women's Creative Club. She was an active member in her community, the Just Us Neighbors (JUN's) Community Club, and weekly exercise class.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her first born son, Robert Martinique Felder, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Annette Penn.

Mrs. Berdie Lee Penn Felder leaves to cherish her memory four children, Quilla M. Smith, Arbry Felder, Cheryl Felder, and Dexter A. Felder (Judy); beloved goddaughter, Rosalind Riley; grandchildren, John Smith Jr., Jonathan Smith (Flovena), Anthony Saunders, Kisha Felder, Kristen Peterson (Michael) Martinique Felder, Timothy Ferguson; sixteen great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; her loving siblings, Alma D. Penn, Willie I. Penn Jr., Doris J. Penn, and Thomas Penn (Veronica); beloved nephew, Thomas Penn, Jr.; lifelong friend, Mrs. Jessie Harris; and a myriad of cousins, extended family, Atkins High School classmates, and loved ones.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Friday, August 7, 2015 at Hanes Memorial CME Church, 819 N. Highland Ave. W-S, NC with Rev. Clarence Cox, III officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Friday at the Church.
