Mr. Bennie Frazier slipped quietly away to heaven on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Bennie was born to Frank and Lula Frazier on March 31, 1936 in Bamberg, SC.
At an early age, Bennie and family moved to New York City where he received his formal education.
Bennie took an early retirement as a supervisor with the New York City Transit Authority.
His family moved to North Carolina in 1986. Bennie then continued working at WSSU and retired after 10 years.
Bennie was a devoted member of Grace Presbyterian Church, USA until his illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Dolly and Hazel; and brothers, Frank, Herbert, and James.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Gloria; sisters, Evelyn, Betty, and Gladys; brother, Henry (Evelyn); his children, Malina, Carlton, and Eric; grandchildren, Malik, Nicole, Erika, Jazmine, and Eric, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Malik, Jr., Tatyana, and Nyla; a host of nieces nephews, other family members, friends, and a devoted caretaker, Karen Redding.
Funeral services will be held at 12Noon Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from Grace Presbyterian Church, USA (corner of Carver School Road and Butterfield Dr.) with Rev. Dr. Samuel Stevenson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00AM until 12Noon on Wednesday at the church.
