Mr. Benjamin Tanner Simmons, Jr., 76, was born August 23, 1941 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Benjamin and Virginia Simmons. He departed this life on Monday, June 25, 2018 at his home. He graduated from Atkins High School and retired from Douglas Battery after 35 years of service. He was a member of Macedonia Worship Center where he served with the Deacon Board, Usher Board, and Men's Ministry. He was a lover of outdoor life, and business owner of Ben's Garage Mechanic Shop.

Benjamin was preceded in death by one sister, Antoinette Simmons Linville; and three brothers, Willie, Johnnie and DeLander Simmons.

Benjamin Tanner Simmons, Jr. is survived by the love of his life, his devoted wife, Pauline Ann May Simmons of the home; he leaves to cherish loving memories his sons, Roger (Teresa), Kevin (Ann), and Sherman Simmons; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ruby (Tommy) Williamson, Beatrice (Wilton) Garrison, Cynthia (Thomas) Hairston, Beverly May, Deborah Ann May, Carrie Thompson, and Apostle Arlene Chaner; brothers-in-law, Leroy (Olivia) May, James (Lois) May, Howard May, Terry May, Willie (Renee) May, and Ricky (Tammy) May; loving aunt, Mother Essie Mae Jackson; special loving cousin, Faye (Tribut) Williamson; a devoted daughter-in-law, Tiffany Carpenter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, June 29, 2018 at Macedonia Worship Center with Apostle Sylvester D. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12:00noon until 1:00pm on Friday at the Church.
