On Saturday June 26, 1943, in Winston-Salem, NC Beatrice Loraine Lyles Williams became the third child born to the late Bravette and Beatrice Lyles. Her education began at Ephesus Junior Academy and was completed in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County public school system. Beatrice was of the Adventist faith for over seventy-five years having attended Ephesus Seventh-Day Adventist Church in which she sang on the Messengers choir and taught the youth sabbath school. She started her in-home daycare where she loved to teach each child that entered her home. This career would last for over 30 years, after this she was employed with the Central YMCA for 17 years in the childcare center. After her retirement from the YMCA, she enjoyed traveling with her brother Joseph and sister-in-law Robin.
Loraine departed this life on Friday evening, June 23, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Jimmel Williams; her parents; and siblings, Willie and Robert Lyles.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Carol Dunlap of Charlotte, NC, Michael (Sherry) Williams, Sandra George, and Pamela Williams, of Winston-Salem, NC; her brothers, Bravett (Clara) Lyles, of Winston-Salem and Joseph (Robin) Lyles of Baltimore, MD; her beautiful and dedicated granddaughter, Courtney (DeShaun) Lumpkins, Princeton, WV; two devoted and caring great grandchildren, Azaria and Amiir George; the joy of her heart, her great-great grandson, Tamiir Naim Davis, aka "Tigger;" her brothers-in-law, Terry (Alesia) Williams, Washington, DC and Paul (Marilyn) Williams; sisters-in-law, Judy Dunovant and Brenda Lyles all of Winston-Salem, NC; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Friday, June 30, 2023 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 2:30pm until 3:00pm on Friday at the Chapel.
