Barry Leon Lampkins was born on April 13, 1959 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Roger Lampkins, Sr. and the late Mrs. Thelma Pearson.  He departed this life on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Hopewell VA.

He began his education in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools and later received his GED after entering the Armed Services.  Barry entered the military in October of 1976 and was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army in 1997 with over 20 years of sacrifice and service to his country. Always learning, Barry decided to enter college and graduated Magna Cum Laud from Virginia State University with a Bachelor Degree in Individualized Studies. Barry was baptized April 8, 2001 and was a proud member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Petersburg VA.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger Lampkins, Jr., Darryl Lampkins, and Robert Lampkins.

Those left to cherish his loving memory are his father, Roger Lampkins; one son, Barry Marchaigea (Shannon) Lampkins of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Charriesse Lampkins of Atlanta, GA; granddaughters, Summer and Savannah Lampkins; sisters, Cynthia Lampkins, Michelle Lampkins, and Chanda Pearson of Atlanta GA; brother, Reginald (Patsy) Lampkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Hanes Memorial CME Church.  The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Saturday at the Church.  Burial will be held at 9:00am Monday, September 30, 2019 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
