Mr. Barney Williams, Jr., 84, of 2335 Okalina Ave. passed away on the afternoon of August 23, 2012.
He was born in Darlington, SC on August 11, 1928 to the late
Barney Williams, Sr. and Merlie Arthur Williams and attended the Darlington Public School System.
He was a member of Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of nearly 65 years, Victoria Bacote Williams; children, Delores Ross, James (Minister Lavetta) Williams, Woodrow (Rosa) Williams, Gloria (Minister Lorenzo) Wesley, Carnell Williams, Marcus (Ann) Williams, Gwendolyn D. Little, Marvin Williams, Sonya Horne, and Tandra (Thurmond) Chandler all of Winston-Salem, NC; one sister, Maedonia (James) McFadden; three brothers, Roosevelt (Vann Jo), Frank (Val) and James Edward (Deloris) Williams; three sisters-in-law, Gertrude Williams, Charlena Williams, and Hattie Bell Williams; 21 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; many "adopted" children and grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 5:30pm until 6:30pm Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Phillips Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to KBR Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
