Mrs. Barbara Jean Harvey Williams, a lifetime resident of Winston-Salem, NC was born January 20, 1936 to Walter and Athelle Harvey. Having exemplified the epitome of a "Mother", she was called from labor to reward on Mother's Day, May 9, 2010.
"Danny" as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, was a 1953 graduate of Atkins High School. She retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System after many years of service. She was currently employed by Fairway Home Health.
"Danny" was a lifetime member of Rising Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was a member of the Post 220 Ladies Auxiliary.
"Danny" was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Bessie Tucker; and two brothers, Walter Harvey, Jr. and Melvin Harvey.
Gone, but never forgotten, "Danny" leaves precious memories in the hearts of her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Mr. Booker T. Williams; two sons, Bobby Williams and Anthony Tyrone Williams; two daughters, Marilyn Yvonne Williams and Carolyn Williams McLaurin all of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers, Joseph (Alberta) Harvey and Aldeen (Geraldine) Harvey; nine grandchildren, Rodericus, Irnina (Tirnone), LaQuan, Talesia (Victor), Keana, Bianca, Talyia all of Winston-Salem, NC, Kenneth (Paula) of Rock Hill, SC, and Tamara (Isidro) of Arizona; a devoted niece, Debbie Johnson; a devoted nephew, Alfred (Lisa) Harvey and her best friend, Bessie LaMaupie all of Winston-Salem, NC; her God-son, Nathaniel Flowers of Hinesville, GA; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Joseph Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1pm until 1:30pm on Saturday at the funeral home. The family may be contacted at the home, 2105 Northeast 24th Street, W-S, NC.
