On December 16, 2014, God came to take one of his angels home. Barbara Jean McCullough passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 29, 1937 to Mary McCullough and James McCullough, Sr.
Barbara was educated in the W-S Forsyth County School System and worked many years as a domestic worker. She was employed until her retirement by Mrs. Roberta Hill and the late David Hill, Sr., who treated her more like family than an employee. Barbara was greatly loved by her children, grand and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James McCullough, Jr.; her sister, Annie Lee Wilson, and a special aunt, Niccie Purcell.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Charles (Joyce) McCullough; two daughters, Kindra (Marvin) Weaks and Debra McCullough; one brother, Alexander (Essie) McCullough; one sister, Audra Adams; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Saturday, December 27, 2014 at New Direction Movement Cathedral with Pastor Essie McCullough officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
Special thanks to Dr. Grote and the staff of Novant Health and Oncology Specialist of Winston-Salem and the entire medical and nursing staff of Hospice and Palliative Care Center of W-S.
