Barbara Ann Blakney, 82, was born in Winston-Salem, NC on August 28, 1935 to Lee and Anna Blakney.  On October 4, 2017 our Heavenly Father placed his loving arms around Barbara at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center with loving family members and friends close by her side.  Her soul was placed into the Pearlie Gates of Heaven for eternal rest.

Barbara graduated from Atkins High School and attended NC Central University.  Barbara served in the United States Marine Corp.  She was employed at RJ Reynolds Archer and was the 1 ^st African-American female supervisor.  She was a faithful member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Gloria Scarborough and Roseanna Fulton.

She leaves to cherish loving memories a sister, Syvera (Nnamdi) Hardy of San Diego, CA; brother, Lee (Brenda) Blakney, Jr. of the city; a devoted niece, Lisa (Andre) Foster of the city; two devoted friends, Gracie Burwick and Dorothy Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Thursday, October 12, 2017 at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00noon on Thursday at the Church.
