Awa Aida Dalmadge

Awa Aida Dalmadge passed away on May 6, 2024, at home in Winston Salem, North Carolina at the tender age of 18. Born in Winston Salem on August 03, 2005, to Fagueye Ndiaye and Cretson Dalmadge, Awa was a daughter, a sister, a niece, a grand-daughter, a loyal friend, and most of all a light in the lives of all who knew her.

Awa's academic journey was marked by a passion for science and medicine.  She graduated from Atkins Academic and Technology High School and attended North Carolina State University. Her intended major was biochemistry.

Awa also had a love for music. She played the violin with the Winston Salem Symphony and the Symphony Orchestra at Atkins.

Awa was committed to volunteering in the community and was most proud to be selected in the Summer Volunteen Program at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital two summers in a row.

Awa had big dreams. Sadly, those dreams were cut short. She will be deeply missed by her parents, her younger brother Cretson Dalmadge, Jr. and a host of extended family members and friends who were blessed to have her in their lives.

Awa will be remembered for her kind heart, her love for friends and family, music and wisdom beyond her years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Winston Salem Symphony or to a local charity.

Awa Aida Dalmadge's memory will forever be in the hearts of those she touched. Rest in eternal peace, dearest Awa.
