Mr. Avery Sterling Campbell passed away June 20, 2009 at the Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center.
He was born June 1, 1965 in Winston-Salem, NC to Renee Calloway and Harry W. Campbell, Jr. He attended the local public schools in New York and California, was a graduate in Vallejo Senior High, and Yonkers Beauty Culture School in CA where he received his certification and licensing in cosmetology.
He also worked at Yonkers Beauty Culture School until he became disabled as cosmetologist. He was a caregiver at Pellcare Retirement Center and cared for a host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Avery S. Campbell was a member of Green Street United Methodist Church where he volunteered with the After School Program and in the food and clothing pantries.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Renee Y. Calloway; and one brother, Mark Campbell.
Left to cherish his memories are his father, Harry W. Campbell, Sr.; his sister, Shauna Calloway; three brothers, Harry (Hidemi) Campbell, Joseph Campbell, and Michael Sainairia Campbell; one step-sister, Magdalene Watts; one aunt, Kathleen Olivia Chin; two great-aunts, Rosa Mae Wallace and Dorothy Adams; and a host of nieces with four special nieces, Brittany (Anthony), Shaunasia, Chanelle, and Savannah; a host of nephews with two special nephews, Dennis and Isaiah; one great-nephew, Josiah; cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday, June 26, 2009 at Green Street United Methodist Church. The family visitation will be held from 10am until 11am on Friday at the Church.
