August Pierce Banner-Wood was born on June 11, 1986 in Winston-Salem, NC to very proud parents, Cathy Banner Wood and Richard Wood. Having been named with such a prestigious mantle, he made his presence known in any arena. From childhood, in an effortless manner, August always had the ability to capture attention and make an impression. His conversation and depth of knowledge amazed adult listeners.
August possessed an awesome personality, with a tenacious attitude and was very outgoing. He was endowed with creative brilliance which he channeled through music, art, and fashion. A graduate of Winston-Salem Barber School, in pursuit of a degree in Fashion Design, he continued his education at The Art Institute of Dallas.
This sports enthusiast was called to eternal rest on July 2, 2015 while enjoying one of his passions, basketball.
Cherishing the memory of his brief but impactful life are his parents, Cathy and Richard Wood; and a host of relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 1:00pm Monday, July 6, 2015 from the sanctuary of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 New Hope Lane W-S, NC with Bishop John C. Parks officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Monday at the Church.
