Arthur Lee Parrot "Uncle Boy" of 5112 Wheeler Court went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the Brian Center of Winston-Salem after his courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Darlington, South Carolina on August 25, 1931 to Geter Parrott and Carrie Bristow-Parrott. He was a former resident at 126 Azalea Terrace Court. He attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools and was a retired construction worker. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country in the Korean War where he received the Korean Service Medal Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, and Combat Infantryman's Badge. He was a former member of Hanes Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Hilton and James Parrott.
He leaves to cherish his memories former spouse and close friend, Dorothy Parrott; a devoted daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Parrott (Todd) Hawkins; a sister, Eloise Parrott; a devoted cousin, Annie Mae Squire; devoted nephew, Brian Parrott of High Point, NC; devoted nieces, Linda Smith of Charlotte, NC and Elaine Parrott; three step-grandchildren, Calvin, Eric, and Isaiah Hawkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1pm Friday, May 25, 2007 at Hanes Memorial CME Church, 819 Highland Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC with Pastor Rayfield Medcalf officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1pm on Friday at the Church.
