Suddenly on May 9, 2007, the angels came to usher Arnethea Karen Brown to her heavenly home. She was born on May 28, 1962 to Elmer Brown, Sr. and Mozelle "Candy" Johnson. She attended St. Benedict the Moor Catholic School and also attended Forsyth County public schools, Irving Senior High School in El Past, TX, and graduated from The American School in Germany.
Arnethea lived in Germany for approximately 10 years before returning to the states with her daughter, Marquita Monique Steele. She enjoyed traveling, especially abroad to places such as Spain, the French Riveria, Amsterdam, and various parts of Europe.
She was an avid runner and very health conscious. Children were her ministry. Arnethea was a former member of Smith Grove AME Zion Church in Mocksville, NC. She rededicated her life to Christ upon joining Goler Memorial AME Zion Church under Pastor Seth O. Lartey.
She was employed by Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center prior to working for N.C. School of the Arts.
She was preceded in death by her step father, Victor Kim Johnson.
Arnethea leaves to cherish her loving memories her loving daughter, Marquita Monique Steele of Greensboro, NC; her mother, Mozelle "Candy" Johnson of Winston-Salem, NC; her father, Elmer (Roberta) Brown, Sr. of Winston-Salem, NC; two sisters, Minister Jacqueline D. Brown and Sheila R. Brown Middleton both of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother, Elmer Brown, Jr. of France; eleven nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Monday, May 14, 2007 from Goler Memorial AME Zion Church with Pastor Seth O. Lartey officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Monday at the Church.
