Arnetha LaVonnie Howard Kimbrough affectionately known as " Netha, " " Neat " & " NeeNoc " departed her earthly life on Monday, October 18, 2021, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, in Winston-Salem, NC. Arnetha was born July 28, 1949, to the late Johnnie and Helen Howard in Winston-Salem, NC. She began her school career at St. Benedicts Catholic School, 14 th Street School, and Atkins High School where she made First chair for the All-city band playing clarinet for the Mighty Marching Camels graduating class of 1967. She also attended Winston-Salem State University.
Throughout her work career she was employed at Hanes Dye & Finishing, AT&T (Western Electric), Thomasville Furniture, Horizons Residential Care, Egbert Davis Jr. & family, Slick Enterprise, and the Carolon Company. She also co-owned a bakery she shared with her sister Rosalyn called How Sweet it Is .
Arnetha began her spiritual journey as a child at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and continued her faith at Emmanuel Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday school teacher and sang with the EBC chorale. In 2008, she became a licensed minister.
In her spare time, Arnetha enjoyed planting flowers, keeping her yard freshly manicured, shopping, and was well known for baking cakes and pastries. Her most popular cake was her famous Honey Bun cake. A lover of old western films, mystery, and DIY television. She loved dancing at functions with her family, she was kindhearted, with a nurturing spirit, and someone who would pray with you and for you. She will truly and forever be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Helen Howard, husband Charles Kimbrough, daughters Charlene and Charnetha Kimbrough, brother Gaddy Little Sr., and sister Rosalyn Howard. She leaves to rejoice in her memory her children Gregory Howard Sr., Cherie Kimbrough, Charity (Shawn) Staley, two stepdaughters, Tawanna (Darrell) Johnson, and Arteria Logan, all of the city. 15 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, three sisters, Brenda (James) Evans, of the city, Nancy (Terence) Henderson of DeSoto, TX and Phyllis Howard of McKinney, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Russell Funeral Home.
Private funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
