Obituary

Antonio Levern Scales, Sr., affectionately known as "Coo" & "Buck", 54, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.  Tony was born in Winston-Salem, NC to Barbara Ann Scales and Levern Graham on February 28, 1963.

He was employed 26 years as a pressman for the Winston-Salem Journal where he was passionate about and loved his job.

"Coo" would like to let you know that his work here on earth is done.  He received his call home, a call he couldn't refuse.  His new mission takes him to a wonderful place.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, his soulmate, high school sweetheart, and queen, Elaine Scales; two sons, Antonio Levern Scales, Jr. and Mark'ee DeAngelo Scales; two wonderful grandkids, Jayvien DeBerry and Royalty Elaine Scales; his wonderful grandmother, Ada Scales; one brother, Stephone Scales; mother-in-law, Thelma Robinson; father-in-law, Howard Robinson; sisters-in-law, Belinda (Andy) Robinson, Brenda (Calvin) Penn, Janet (Ronald) Price, Crystal Robinson, Jessica Robinson, Tyanna Robinson, and Toya Osbsy; brothers-in-law, Howard Lee Robinson, Jr., Paul Gray, and Brian Robinson; special uncles, Arthur, Robert Gray, and Tony  (Mary) Jones; aunts, Pricilla Scales and Willitte Scales; a special cousin, Tan "Toot" Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Tony expresses that he loves you all and he will miss his family.

"I fought a good fight; I finished the race and kept the faith.  I am now in the presence of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

A service in witness to the resurrection for the life of Antonio Levern Scales, Sr. will be held conducted at 1:00pm Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Shiloh Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.  The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Tuesday at the Church.  The family will also receive family & friends in the Shiloh Baptist Church Fellowship Hall following the services.

The family wishes to extend thanks to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Wake Forest Baptist Health-Clemmons, and his coworkers and friends of the Winston-Salem Journal.
