Obituary

Antoine Jovon Gore, 44, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina passed away Sunday March 16, 2025.  He was born on September 7, 1980 to Willie Henry Gore and Elaine Hardin Gore.

In his early years, Jovon was a member of Kimberly Park Holiness Church where he participated in the Young People's Holiness Association (YPHA), Junior and Young Adult Choirs, Youth Usher Board and Sunday School.   He later joined St Peter's World Outreach Center.

As a child, he developed a passion for Boy Scouts and Pop Warner Football playing for the Tiny Vikings from Mighty Mites to Junior Bantams teams.   Jovon went on to play football for 4 years at East Forsyth High School where he graduated from the class of 1998.  He was an outstanding football player and track athlete, receiving many accolades for his talents.   After completing high school, he attended Winston-Salem State University to study Sports Management and played college football as well.  Jovon relished summer camps, intramural sports, and weightlifting at the Winston Lake YMCA and Carl Russell recreation center.

In his late teen and early young adult years, he was a popular disc jockey known as DJ "ICE".   Jovon had a passion for music, dancing and fashion.   He had personal style always wearing a crisp outfit, fresh pair of tennis shoes, sunglasses, jewelry and a baseball cap to match.

He had diverse skills, working in multiple positions throughout his career as a grocery store cashier and stocker, security officer and warehouse forklift operator.

Jovon's temperament was outgoing, friendly, caring, charismatic, and jovial.  He was adored by many and always had a sweet spirit, contagious smile, and great sense of humor.  He loved family gatherings and listening to family history and stories.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wille Henry Gore and Elaine Hardin Gore; and stepmother, Kay Francis Gore.

Those left to cherish him in love and memory are his son, Jayshaun Allen Gore; brother, Willie Stephon Gaddy, Sr. (Jeannene); sister, Kia Monique Gore; step-siblings, Kevin (Angela) Carter, Katrease (Robert) Gauer, and Lititia Carter; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, March 24, 2025 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm on Monday at the Chapel.
