Anthony Willis Yarborough was born to the late Pency Mills Yarborough and the late Andrew Lee Yarborough, III in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on November 20, 1953.
He attended the public schools of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County and was a member of the 1972 graduating class of East Forsyth High School.
Anthony began his early Christian education at Mount Zion Baptist Church where he joined and was baptized under the pastorate of the late Dr. Kelly O. P. Goodwin.
He enrolled at Winston-Salem State University and earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. He was a teacher with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System and taught fourth grade at Hall-Woodward Elementary School for a number of years until declining health led to his early retirement from the system.
Brother Yarborough was a lifelong member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and a member of the Saint Paul Group of the Laymen League. He was faithful in attendance and was very supportive of his late mother, Mrs. Pency Yarborough, as he worked alongside her on the R. L. File Scholarship Committee.
His pleasant smile and warm personality were further enhanced by his impeccable style of dress whether in worship or outside. Anthony loved to read, enjoyed good music and he was a lover of animals.
Anthony Willis Yarborough answered the Lord's call to come live with Him in paradise from his residence in Winston-Salem on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, following a period of illness. He was welcomed into eternity and reunited with his beloved family members who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, he was greeted by two brothers, Andrew Lee Yarborough, IV and Alton K. Yarborough; and a nephew, Andrew Lee Yarborough, V.
