Mr. Anthony Curtis Fletcher entered life on October 13, 1958 and entered into rest on June 5, 2010. He was born in Winston-Salem, NC to Thomas and Libena Fletcher. "Tony" as he was affectionately known lived every day to the fullest. He enjoyed having a good hearty laugh while sitting on the porch with his friends sipping on a cup of coffee. Tony was educated in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. He attended Glenn High School. At an early age Tony joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, Thomas "Tommy" Sims, Graham Fletcher, and Akinyi Fletcher.
He leaves behind a devoted sister and brother-in-law, Addie and Al Jabbar. He believed that "Sister" could do and would do anything to help him. A loving big brother, William Henry Fletcher, who always kept a close eye on Tony to make sure that he, was ok. He also leaves with fond memories two nieces, LaToya Rogers (Jacques) and Tasheika Solomon (Robert); great-nephew, Avery Marsh; great-nieces, Taelore Marsh and Kennedy Solomon. Tony was also cared for by a devoted cousin, Alberta Fair. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Pricilla Fletcher; and a host of cousins and extended family. Tony touched the lives of many people with his bright smile and gentle spirit. If he were with us now he would tell everyone, "don't worry about me, I'm okay." Tony taught us the gift of patience and caring. Tony you will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Serenus T. Churn, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 1pm until 1:30pm on Wednesday at the Church.
A special thank you to the staff and friends of Shuler Health Care Center for the love and care that was shown to Tony; especially to Mary Ellen Bartle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in his honor.
