Mrs. Annie Earline Penn, 95, of 229 Forest Hill Ave. passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at her residence. She was born January 22, 1921 to Omia Oakly and Clarence Smith. Earline was a graduate of Atkins High School, received her education degree from W-S Teachers College (WSSU), and taught in the WSFCS System for numerous years. She was a lifetime member of Grace Presbyterian Church and was a former musician of St. James AME Church where she started the first Tots Choir in the city of W-S.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her children, James "Shed" Reeves, Ida "Gloria" Broadway, and Shelia Jackson; her sons-in-law, James Bradley and Billy Miller; and granddaughter-in-law, Elizabeth McCloud.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Constance Bradley, Carolyn Miller, Sharen Ann McCloud, and Wanda Gail Carrell; God-children, Elaine Bevels, Lester (Pamela) Davis, and Carrie Fitzgerald; son-in-law, James Broadway; daughter-in-law, Mildred Reeves; grandchildren, Robert (Angela) Moore, Antoinette (James) Britton, Maurice (Kelly) Profitt, Robert McCloud, April Broadway, Ayona Reeves, NaKeshia McCloud, and Geraldine Reeves; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; uncle, Melville "Lander" Charmin Mauney; life-long friends, Gwen Wallace and Hattie Jeter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Monday, October 17, 2016 at Grace Presbyterian Church with Pastor Toure Marshall, officiating and Rev. Samuel Stevenson, eulogist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12:00noon on Monday at the Church.
