Mrs. Annie Ruth McEachin Parms was born July 25, 1937 in Robeson County, NC to the late Mr. Johnny McEachin and Mrs. Agnes McEachin. She attended the Robeson County School System and graduated from Maxton High School where she excelled in basketball. Mrs. Parms later met and married the man of her dreams, Johnny Parms, Jr. and to this union they had eight children and shared sixty-two years of marriage. The relocated to High Point, NC for five years and then relocated to Winston-Salem, NC.
Sister Parms was employed at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center for thirty-six years. She was a gold plus member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church for seventy plus years. She was a faithful member of the Sunday School and served as secretary and treasurer. She also was Chaplin for the Missionary Ministry, president of the Pastor's Aid for numerous years, member of the Vocal Choir, and president of the Benevolence Committee.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; four brothers; and two sisters.
She leaves not to mourn but to cherish the memories a loving and devoted husband, Johnny Parms, Jr. of the home; three sons, Deacon James Parms, Johnny (Elder LaWanda) Parms, III, and William (Elder Angela) Parms of the city; five daughters, Mrs. Agnes (Ervan) Betts, Ms. Annette Parms, Mrs. Sabre (Anthony) Caldwell, Mrs. Cynthia (Chris) Gilchrist of the city and Mrs. Patricia (Ronnie) Skinner of Colfax, NC; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Gooden, Chrissie Hamer, and Mary Ann Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Russell Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, 2020. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens.
