Obituary
On Thursday, March 19, 2009 Mrs. Annie Lee Mitchell Jeffries was called home to join our Savior.
She was born on March 30, 1918 to James and Minnie Mitchell in Greer, SC. She moved with her family to Winston-Salem during her early childhood and graduated from Atkins High School and LaMae Beauty College. A licensed cosmetologist, she operated a beauty shop for many years in addition to working as a dorm supervisor at Winston-Salem State University, from which she retired.
Annie was a faithful member of Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church where she was a Life Member of the Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society. Annie enjoyed life and had a great love for her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and would insist you eat "just a little something".
Greeting her in Heaven along with her parents are her husband, Hubert Jeffries, Sr.; and two brothers, J.R. Mitchell and Otis Mitchell.
Remembering and cherishing loving memories are a son, Hubert "Tootie" Jeffries, Jr. (Queenesther); one daughter, Norma Jeffries White (Ken); four grandchildren, Crystal Scott, Rob Drayton, Phillip Jeffries, and Erin Mari; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Aniya; one sister-in-law, Eva J. Jeffries; caregiver, Geraldine Bitting; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, March 25, 2009 from the Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church with Reverend Dr. Roy A. Swann officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12Noon until 1pm on Wednesday at the Church.
