Mrs. Annie "Ann Lois" Hardy Davis (known to her kids and grandchildren as "Ma") of 1836 E 5th St., transitioned from earth to our heavenly Father on August 25, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born on October 6, 1935 to Mr. William F. & Mrs. Annie Bell Hardy in Gaffney, SC.
She was educated in W-S/Forsyth County School System. She was employed with Northwest Child Development Center for over 20 years and worked for multiple relatives of the Bert Bennett Family for approximately 50 years. She was baptized and received her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age while attending Union Baptist Church with her Great Aunt Sis who was a major contributor to her life development. Annie was a member of Greater Cleveland since the Cleveland Avenue location days and served on the Usher Board for many years.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Mr. Russell Davis, Jr.; two sons, Johnny & William (Pinky) Hardy; sister, Lillie Mae Allen; brother, Mr. William "Sonny" Hardy; two great grandsons, Calvin Wallace, Jr & J'Waun H. Hargrove; devoted nephew, James Tyrone Hardy; and devoted niece, Vernice "Nesse" Hardy Westmoreland.
Annie leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Miles (Shirley) Hardy & D. Lennell Davis of Carson, CA; two devoted daughters, Mahalia Davis & Merita Davis; devoted grandson whom she raised, Devon Davis, of Alexandria, VA granddaughter, Shree Davis who moved in to assist with her care; two sisters, Iveria Hardy Shuler & Mattie Hardy all of the city, devoted brother-in-law, Mr. Richard "Red" Davis of Rockville, MD; 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren; and of course many members of the Bert Bennett Family whom she assisted in raising.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 pm Friday, September 1, 2017 at Greater Church (Formerly Greater Cleveland) with Bishop Sheldon M. McCarter officiating. Entombment will follow at Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00pm Friday at the Church.
