Mrs. Anna Lou Holmes Keel was born August 28, 1924 in Charleston , SC to Richard and Bertha Holmes Smith.

She was educated in the Forsyth County School System.

She retired from Paisley High School and was a church leader at Reynolds Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church where she served with the Sunday school, Missionary, and her love: singing with the choir. She really enjoyed singing her favorite song, "In Times Like These", where she would lift the spirit and touch the hearts of all who heard her.

Her beloved husband, Fred Keel and son, Floyd C. Holmes preceded her in death.

Mrs. Keel leaves to cherish her memories her son, Jimmie L. Holmes of the home; grandchildren, Kimberly and Tonya Dawkins, Michelle Forbes, Michelle and Tameka Perkins, Shara Jenkins Jimmie L. Holmes, Jr. (Monica) of Hyattsville, MD and Deanard L. Holmes (Gardenia) of Capital Heights, MD, Darrel Dubose, Ahmad Dixon, Edwin Davis, and Lavon Morrison; great-grandchildren, Keeshia, Latoya, Tyrell, Torez, and Aliyah Dawkins, Ahmad Dixon, Jr., Carlos and Antoine Gonzalez, Gianni Childs, Deanard L. Holmes, Jr. and Darrell L. Holmes; great-great grandchildren, Carlos Gonzalez, Jr., Kahlil, Dezonta, and Kadarius Dixon; one daughter-in-law, Urica Mumford; her god-daughter, Linda Scales; and a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Funeral services will he held at 1pm Tuesday, April 1, 2008 from the Reynolds Temple CME Church with Reverend Jack Brown, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery . The family visitation will be held from Noon until 1pm on Tuesday at the Church.
