Ms. Anna Belle Cockerham, 88, of Pressman Drive, formerly of Granville Place, passed on July 5, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born January 30, 1923 to James and Deanna Cockerham in Forsyth County, NC.
Anna attended Atkins High School and afterwards she moved to Brooklyn, NY where she worked and lived for 42 years. She returned to Winston-Salem in the early seventies and was employed at St. Phillips Daycare Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings. Through the grace of God she and her siblings were raised by the late Mr. and Mrs. Decarster Webster.
She leaves to mourn two daughters, Linda Golden and Jacqueline Wilkins (Raeford); four grandchildren, Sheri Golden, Valerie McGill, Stephanie and BJ Wilkins; extended siblings, Peggy Floyd, Joyce, Jarvis, and James Webster; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Monday, July 11, 2011 at New Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12noon on Monday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home and Palliative Care at Forsyth Medical Center.
