Obituary

Angelon Sediria McCaskill Watson was born on July 5, 1951, to Dinah Mae McCaskill McNeill and Calvin Eugene Lowery in Winston Salem, NC.

Angelon, affectionately known as "Angela", was raised in the Happy Hill Gardens community of Winston-Salem.  She graduated from Anderson Junior/Senior High School. She graduated from North Carolina Central University with a bachelor's degree in Education and later graduated from NC Agricultural and Technical State University with a master's degree in Education.

She started her teaching career at Moore Alternative Elementary School.  She later taught at Diggs Latham Elementary, was a Curriculum Coordinator at Hall Woodward Elementary, was a mentor at Winston Salem State University to first year teachers at and ended her teaching career at Ashley Elementary School. After retiring, she worked at the NC School of the Arts and Winston Lake YMCA and later returned to teaching as a substitute teacher.

She met and married Olin E. Watson, Sr. in 1979.  She had one daughter, Kendra Watson Windham (Alex) and three stepchildren, Saundra Kay Miller, Olin E. Watson, Jr., and Kenneth Watson. She was the middle daughter of three girls.  She had a very close relationship with her sisters, Jeanette and Margaretta "Denise". She also had a special bond with her cousin, Brenda Teal Simon, who was like a sister to her.  She was very close friends with Gwen Bonner and Alice Cain. Her relationship with her nieces and nephews was very important to her and she consistently showered them with love and support.

Angela was a warm, loving, caring and funny person who never met a stranger. She would love on you, pray for you, and give guidance when needed. She loved to be involved in her church and the Anderson High School Alumni Association. Angela also loved to bowl and met her husband at a local bowling alley. She loved to travel with her husband's bowling team, and she also took several trips with her family.

Angela peacefully transitioned in her sleep on March 5, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Eugene Lowery; her mother, Dinah Mae McCaskill McNeill; her sister, Jeanette McCaskill; her sister, Modestine; and stepdaughter, Saundra Kay Miller.

She is survived by her husband, Olin E. Watson Sr.; stepfather, Charles McNeill; sister, Margretta "Denise" McCaskill; brother, Arleigh Bryant (Diama), daughter, Kendra Watson Windham (Alex); and stepsons, Olin E. Watson, Jr. (Regina) and Kenneth Watson; she is also survived by her brothers-in-law, William Watson and Johnny Watson; sister-in-law, Irene Coleman; she has a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, cousins, and dear friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm-5:00pm Friday, March 18, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Saturday, March 19, 2022 at St. Peters Church & World Outreach Center.  A family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 11:30am on Saturday at the Church.
