Andre Lamont Joyner, 37, transitioned from this earthly life on January 21, 2016 after a long battle with many health ailments.
Andre was born in Colleton County, SC. At an early age, the family relocated to W-S, NC. A graduate of West Forsyth High School, this gentle giant was a force to be reckoned with on the football field. Known for his humor, big heart, and entrepreneurial spirit, friends remember Andre as the "candy man." Andre was well-loved by so many.
Andre briefly attended both NCCU and WSSU and then worked for a number of years in the food service industry. For a while, Andre left his passion of cooking and sought other pursuits in transportation and as an HVAC Technician at WSSU. Andre received an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Forsyth Technical Community College. Ultimately, he returned to his first love and started cooking for others again while pursuing his Bachelor's Degree from East Carolina University.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Joyner.
Andre is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Lindsay; two amazing little boys, Jamison (3) and Justin (2); his parents, Harvey and Elverta Joyner Lewis; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, cousins, long-time friends and numerous people who have played vital roles throughout the various seasons of Andre's life.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Greater Cleveland Christian Church, 5095 Lansing Drive W-S, NC with Bishop Sheldon McCarter officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Wednesday at the Church.
