Alton Eardley Taylor was born in South Jamaica, New York to the proud parents, Eugene and Grace Taylor on December 28, 1925; he was the youngest of nine brothers and sisters.
Alton attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Jamaica Queens, New York, upon leaving school in the 11th grade, Alton join the United States Marine Corps during World War II. This combat veteran spent six years in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged.
Alton was employed by the New York City transit Authority for 30 years as a track specialist and also worked for the New York City Board of Education for 15 years.
Alton met Ludena Faulkner, which resulted in the nuptials on July 21, 1956. Two children came from this union.
His favorite recreation was reading and writing short stories and essays, which later was compiled into a book titled, From The Top of My Head.
Alton touched many lives and will be missed. He leaves to mourn two children, Anthony and Carmen; three grandchildren, Antonio Taylor, Sajiah Taylor, and Hugh Jensen; one great grandson, Amari Taylor; daughter-in-law, Sharon Taylor; son-in-law, Raymond Masonet; Godsons, Albert Cummings and Juney Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Private funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
