Alphonso Washington, 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2010. He was born and raised in Winston-Salem, NC and was an Army Veteran. "Al" or "Fonz" as he was affectionately known was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church where he served on the Senior Choir, Male Chorus, and as a Sunday school teacher.
Al was preceded in death by his mother, Creola Fowler; and a son, Ronald Bristow.
Al leaves to cherish fond memories his children, Michael Watts, Wanda Samuels, Robin (Joe) Epps, Brian and Stefon Watts all of Winston-Salem, NC; his stepchildren, Hilda (Robert) Dendy, Rufus (Rebecca) Wilborn, Cedric and J. Van Wilborn; thirteen grandchildren including a devoted grandson and caregiver, Steven Epps; seventeen great-grandchildren; a cousin, Donald (Kay) Thomas; special friend, Eugenia Macon and family; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, May 24, 2010 at Union Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Sir Walter Mack, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Monday at the Church.
