Obituary

Almeana Elizabeth King Little was born on July 9, 1933 in Greenwood, South Carolina to James King and Lizzie Mae Williams King. She took her flight to Heaven on Thursday, February 3, 2022.

Almeana moved to Winston-Salem, NC in the forties where she attended Atkins High School. She ultimately made her way to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital where she worked and retired from the Dietary department.

Almeana was a devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC for more than forty plus years under the leadership of S.W. Mack Sr. and Rev. Dr. John Mendez. She was a part of the Missionary Department for a time as well.

Almeana was very much known for her compassionate spirit but was equally known for her very witty sense of humor. Her charm alone made instant connections to everybody she came across. In her words, she "never met a stranger".

Almeana was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lizzie Mae; her husband of nearly thirty years, Herman Little; her brother James, Jr.; her sister, Salli Mae; and her nephews, James and Toby King.

Almeana's legacy will forever be preserved and immortalized by her children, Valery King of Winston-Salem, NC and Vincent King (Doris) of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Brandon King (Celicia) of Charlotte, NC and Monda King of Houston, TX; two nieces, Loretta Jackson and Almeana Lyles, both of Winston-Salem, NC; her "adopted" grandson, JeVontae Jackson of Winston-Salem, NC; special family friend, Mark Jackson of Winston-Salem, NC; two great grandchildren, as well as a multitude of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

Private funeral services will be held Friday, February 11, 2022. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
