Allen Louis Hunter, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 19, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Hunter.
On November 1, 1966, Allen and Clarice became husband and wife. Through this union they were blessed with five wonderful children and were also blessed to have 53 years together.
Shortly after high school, he joined the Army, where he served for 20 1/2 years. After retirement he began a second career with Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he was a brakeman, conductor and engineer. He retired after 28 years.
Allen was a faithful and devoted member of Christian Fountain in Winston Salem, Reverend Ray L. Watlington, Pastor. He served on the Deacon board and he played an important role in establishing the audio ministry of the church, which is something he truly enjoyed doing.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Clarice Downing Hunter of the home; five children, Roderick (Deena) and Allen II (Towana), both of Virginia Beach, VA, Phaedra, Karlin (Tammy) and Phanice, all of the home; two sisters, Caroline Worsely (William) and Linda Windborne, both of Plymouth, NC.
Other survivors include: eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; two granddogs, Yuki and Lou; five brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Private funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2020.
